"Bridge"

Marabola: Prose

Work in Progress
"Bridge" is something I started in my Creative Writing class in early 2007 and have been working on since. In my opinion it's the best prose I've ever written (and managed to continue to write), even in its current rough draft form.
The intention at the beginning was to write a new take on the classical romance story, and try to do it completely in the second person. As it is, it's turning out ot be only partly in the second person, but that's okay.
I also tried to incorporate something Rhawen told me once about there being "moth girls" and "butterfly girls".
The characters are sexually ambiguous on purpose: I want people to place the characters' genders according to their own preferences and ways of thinking. For example, I see both of the characters as girls, while Rhawen sees the "moth" as a boy and the "butterfly" as a girl; inversely, Scott sees the "butterfly" as a boy and the "moth" as a girl. And so on.
This is also the piece I'd most appreciate feedback on - if you've got something to say, email me!
