July 2007 Made during my metals and jewelry class at the Summer High School Program at Snow Farm. This is the first piece I've ever made with hinges, and they're quite right when they say that the first hinge you make is always the hardest. It was a bitch. Anyway, this is formed and stamped sterling silver (for the body), formed copper (for the face), soft glass set with silver and copper tubing (for the eyes), and brass tubing for the knuckles of the hinge. This now belongs to my dearest friend, Rhawen, who was the one to get me interested in cephalopods in the first place. |
